Battle of the Badge: Cleaning Up on a Wet Bet

In the January/February Issue we wrote about the Battle of the Badge Blood Drive. This was the 7th Annual Blood drive supported by local law enforcement, fire, and EMS agencies to bring up the blood supply—which they succeeded in doing! The 1,884 participants helped bring the supply back up to normal—but don’t let that stop you from making a life-saving donation. Each agency tried to bring in the most donors to win bragging rights, a traveling trophy, and a winner’s luncheon. But there was always a side bet going on between the Visalia Police Chief and the Visalia Fire Chief that whoever brought in the fewest donors would have to wash the other’s car wearing a special T-shirt. And we have those pictures as promised! The Fire Chief had to wash the Police Chief’s car wearing a shirt that said: “I wish I could’ve been a Police Officer!” And during the car wash the Fire Chief had a fire engine brought in, which he proceeded to wash the police car with! What a spectacle! These guys sure know how to have fun with helping out,
